    In-Person Training

The Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay's 19th Annual Chesapeake Watershed Forum, which will be held at the National Conservation Training Center in Shepherdstown, WV October 18-20, is a watershed-wide event reaching over 400 restoration and protection practitioners to inspire and empower local action towards clean water. A CAST Training will be taking place titled, Target and Track Environmental Improvements Using CAST.

CAST enables planners in the watershed to develop a plan for meeting nitrogen, phosphorus, or sediment load allocation using the most cost-effective strategy. CAST can be used to answer questions about the effect of BMPs on loads, to identify where BMPs will reduce the most load, and assess the impact of implementation on communities and ecosystems. Come to this session to learn how to quantify load reductions from BMPs for grant applications, communication with locally elected officials, and select/prioritize BMP implementation for restoration and conservation. CAST can also be used to track BMP implementation and effects over time, and includes maps that are useful for engaging communities. CAST is free and online so is available for all.
